This is part 2 of my "A Close Call" thread, the story when someone crashed into my parked car on the day I gave a presentation at school with my dolls. I just bumped the thread back up.
Well, last Friday I received a call from the insurance company and they declared my car as TOTALED! Not only that but I had until today to get a new car and empty my old one before they would take back the rental and junk my old car(which by "old" was only 6 years).
So, on Saturday my mom and I went shopping and now I have a new car! And this time I'll actually try not to junk it up like my last car! Maybe I can drive the dolls around town a little!

lol, I was just reading part one of your story from a few pages back. I'm so glad things turned out better than you had expected. I also think it's really cool that you've worked AG into school presentations--how creative.

Well, even though I like having a new car I still have to pay a good chunk of it off, as the insurance check wasn't really enough to buy another car. But I have to keep telling myself that what happened was unavoidable, not my fault and out of my control. I just hope I can keep this car for a long while!

Congrats on your new car, Katie! Glad to hear your not-so-nice situation worked out for you... only hope you got a vehicle strong enough to plow through all this midwestern snow.

What did you get? I love buying cars. I'm one of those people who gets a rush haggling for a great deal.

2005 Corolla. This is my 3rd car and all 3 were Corollas. I like their dependebility and size. I wish I could have gotten a cooler color, as mine inside and outside is tan/gold/sand/beige. My mom still has her 1994 Corolla, and she bought it new. But that is what they had on the lot and color wasn't the most important factor. This is the first time I've had power windows, power locks and a CD Player in a car of my own.

Thanks for the update. I was wondering what had happened in the meantime.
I know that even if you're the 'innocent' party in a car accident, it usually costs you a lot too. You never get enough for a brandnew car as the damaged one is only worth half or even less.
Glad to hear you found a nice brandnew car. My first car was a bright green Corolla 1200 with red stripes on the side - that was in '86 and the car was then at least 10 years old. It got totalled in 'Schrottgasse' (s.rap road) in Vienna. My sister got injured in the accident (concussion) - she was driving the car but it wasn't her fault another young woman didn't give way as it would have been for her to do.
Anyhow, glad to hear you've got a brandnew car. Enjoy it!
